Sections of a Honda VIN identify specific information about the vehicle, like its manufacturer, model, engine type, body and transmission type, model year, manufacturing location, and trim level.
To explain how each section of the Honda VIN is identified, we will use VIN 19XCV1A1*KA*****0 as an example.
19X – Manufacturer. There are several Honda manufacturers around the world. The manufacturer in the United States is Honda of America Mfg.
CV1 – Honda model and engine type, such as Honda Accord or Honda Civic.
A – Body and transmission type, such as 2-door coupe with a manual transmission.
1 – Trim level, such as LX or EX.
* – Internal check digit.
K – Model year.
A – Manufacturing location or plant. Honda has many manufacturing plants around the world.
*****0 – Production identifier, or serial number. This number is unique to the vehicle.
